There is perhaps no other cigar that comes to mind
at the mention of Rocky Patel, than the Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 Torpedo. The
stunning smoke was one of the first vintage cigars from Rocky Patel and is
still one of the best, making it a worthy flag bearer for the Patel line.
The richly textured 6 ¼” x 52 Torpedo begins with
a dark 12 year aged Honduran Broadleaf wrapper that surrounds lush filler
tobaccos from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua that are bound by a
Nicaraguan binder leaf. Expertly constructed and box-pressed, the Torpedo will
bring over an hour of pleasure.
Once the luscious Torpedo gets going, an earthy
medium-bodied character strings together a ribbon of ever-changing flavors.
Notes of coffee, cedar, pepper and spice swirl endlessly along the palate while
pleasant splashes of caramel and nuts hinge the complex smoke into wonderfully
balanced experience. A rich, yet seductively smooth finish caps off this truly
joyous smoke.
The Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 is the cigar that
helped launch Rocky Patel into the highest echelons of the cigar elite and for
that reason alone is worth a try. Yet setting that pedigree aside, the Vintage
1990 Torpedo is a flavorful and balanced stick that is simply too good to keep
out of your humidor!
